As one of the network of congressionally-authorized water centers located at each Land Grant University, the Senator George J. Maine Aquatic Biodiversity Project (MABP)
MABP
Improving our understanding of the status and vulnerability of Maine’s freshwater species and ecosystems is the primary goal of the Maine Aquatic Biodiversity Project. Such an understanding is a key requirement for ongoing and future efforts to promote the effective conservation and management of our State’s freshwater resources. MABP is a collaborative venture between The Nature Conservancy, and the Maine Departments of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, and Environmental Protection, and the Maine Natural Areas Program.

Maine Outdoor Heritage Fund (MOHF)
MOHF
The Maine Outdoor Heritage Fund conserves wildlife and open spaces through the sale of instant Lottery tickets. With proceeds from ticket sales, grants are awarded twice a year, totaling approximately $1.5 million annually. The seven-member Maine Outdoor Heritage Fund Board chooses projects in four categories that promote recreation as well as conservation of Maine's special places, endangered species and important fish and wildlife habitat. The Maine Space Grant Consortium (MSGC) is NASA in Maine. It consists of colleges, universities, research labs, state agencies, businesses and not-for-profit organizations, all of whom help further NASA's goals while benefiting Maine in many different areas of science and technology.
